From the company that gave the world Swedish Fish — these are the pastel originals Swedes actually grew up eating.

Malaco has been making candy in Sweden since 1934, and its fish-shaped wine gums are the ancestors of the red Swedish Fish on American shelves. This is the home-market version: starch-set wine gums in pastel pink, yellow, orange, white and green, coloured with plant pigments instead of artificial dyes. The chew is slightly softer and less waxy than the US export, with lighter, gentler fruit flavours. There is no gelatine — the set comes from starch — and a beeswax glaze gives them their signature shine.
