The striped peppermint stick Sweden has been twisting by hand since 1859 — cool, crisp, and exactly the way Gränna made the first one.
Polkagrisar are hard candy sticks twisted by hand in red and white stripes, with a cool peppermint flavour and a clean, glassy snap. Think of a candy cane's flavour, straightened into a stick and made with proper craft — denser, smoother, and minty without being toothpaste-sharp. The polkagris was invented in Gränna in 1859 by Amalia Eriksson, and the town's small candy kitchens still pull and twist them by hand the same way. These come from Grenna Polkagriskokeri, in the polkagris capital itself.
