Toms, the Danish candy maker going since 1924, gives its classic Ferrari car the Nordic treatment: salmiak — the ammonium-salt liquorice Scandinavians grow up on — paired with bright raspberry ('hallon' is Swedish for raspberry). The salt hits first, then the raspberry sweetness rounds it off, which makes these far friendlier than straight salt liquorice. The chew is firm and glossy, wine-gum territory rather than soft sweet. Nothing on an American shelf really matches salmiak — black liquorice is the nearest reference point, but the salty edge is entirely its own thing.
